Step into the Viking Age through play!
Freyr's Hall is our interactive play exhibition, where the whole family can step into the world of the Vikings through play, imagination and storytelling.
A family activity at Gamla Uppsala Museum
Freyr's Hall
Freyr was regarded as the ancestor of the powerful rulers of Old Uppsala.
At the moment, the chieftain seems to be away, so take the opportunity to try on Viking clothing and helmets, explore the hall and its objects, and sit in the high seat.
Children and adults can dress up and join the adventure together. Take on different roles in the household—as a child, housewife, farmer, warrior, or even king or queen.
Look out for the hidden buttons that bring the animals carved into the wooden pillars to life—an interactive favourite for visitors of all ages.
Read stories from the Viking Age, invent your own tales, care for the animals and prepare a meal. Let your imagination lead the way.
No booking is required.
The exhibition is designed for children aged 0–12 and the adults accompanying them.
Freyr's Hall is included in the museum admission. Admission is free for everyone under 19.
