Welcome to explore the viking heritage at Gamla Uppsala and one of Sweden’s largest and most important burial sites. Gamla Uppsala (4km north of Uppsala) contains three spectacular royal mounds and more than 300 mounds from the 6th to 12th centuries. Vendel Age Festival 13-15 June (evenemanget har passerat)

Welcome to the most exciting festival of the year and the museum’s biggest event of 2025! Meet the ancestors of the Vikings as the Vendel Age (550-800 AD) returns to Gamla Uppsala! We’ll be joined by historical reenactors from all over Europe, showcasing clothing and equipment from the Vendel Period, when Gamla Uppsala was at the height of its power.
